Andaman and Nicobar

A treasure trove of secluded islands!

Secluded from the rest of the country, Andaman and Nicobar Islands is located in Bay of Bengal is one of the most coveted holiday destination. With its string of small islands, beautiful beaches and remote villages, one is sure to extend they stay and explore this haven in all its entirety.

To do so, you will have to start somewhere and what better place to start your expedition than the capital city itself. Port Blair is inhabited by a mix of Bengalis, Tamils, Burmese, Nicobarese and Telugus. This blend of different communities creates a kaleidoscopic culture that is worth delving into. However, when it comes to this city as a travel destination, many people only treat it as a potential pit-stop between different cities and the islands. But there is more if you are a history and museum buff.

The Cellular Jail Memorial is one of the most fascinating places. Built during the British reign, it had seen atrocities against some of the most prominent freedom fighters. Despite the war cries, it became a university sanctorum where ideas and strategies were discussed. The Jail is open to the public so spend some time walking through the corridors that have seen years of great struggle. There is also a museum with photographs and other antiques to help you understand the years of freedom struggle.

If museums and historical places are not what you are looking for, there are different islands just a short distance away from the main city of Port Blair. Havelock Island being the most famous thanks to the beautiful Radhanagar Beach. It was also ranked 7th on the list of prettiest beach on TIME Magazine.

Radhanagar beach has plenty of scope for all the people who want to try some adventure activities and water sports, especially Scuba diving.

Apart from these popular attractions, there is also Neil Island, Ross Island and North Bay. Head to these islands for a different kind of experience. From watching the coral reefs up close in North Bay to spending a time full of tranquility in the farmlands and quaint beaches of Neil Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands offer plenty, if you are ready to explore.
