V Resorts Trehan Ashiana Amritsar

The lively heartland of Punjab is best experienced at Amritsar which has a colourful mix of monuments, bazaars and cuisines. And V Resorts Trehan Ashiana, which is located only 1.9 kms (drive time: 10 minutes) from the main city centre is an incredible base to explore the sights and sounds of this place. Add to that its proximity to local bazaars and the Golden Temple (4.1 kms from the resort) also make it an ideal spot to explore the region, while also unwinding in green and serene surroundings of the resort.

The resort is a concrete structure that has verdant lawns, straight verandas and minimal neutral palettes on its walls. With rooms spread across three floors (including ground), the resort also boasts of a conference room, cozy nooks for reading and unwinding along with kitchens on two individual floors.

PS: Although we do offer room service during the day, the resort does not have a restaurant, so only in-room dining is possible.

Go Local

The first thing to strike off your list here is a visit to the Golden Temple, which is located 4.1 kms (drive time: 16 mins) from the resort. One of the holiest spots for Indian Sikhs, this is your chance to soak in the serenity that this place offers, despite the enormous crowds. Don’t forget to visit the Langar Hall (the largest community kitchen in the world) and share a simple meals that has been cooked by volunteers. Simple yet delicious.

A little 1.3 kms ahead of the temple is the Jallianwala Bagh memorial, which was the site of the horrific massacre of innocent peaceful protestors by General Dyer in 1919. Notice the walls with bullet marks now enclosed in a white square and peer into the deep dark well into people more than a hundred people jumped to escape the bullets. Spend the afternoon at the Partition Museum, located in in the Town Hall a few yards away. Browse poignant exhibits, and watch refugees relate their experiences on the TV screens.

If you are a shopaholic, bookmark the Katra Jaimal Singh Market which is 3.4 kms from the resort (drive time: 12 minutes). With small shops selling everything from pickles, shoes, snacks and gorgeous phulkari suits, this is your chance to buy something for not just yourself but also for family/friends back home.

Last but not least, an experience at Wagah Border might not be everyone’s cup of tea, mainly due to the noise and crowds. But if you want to go make sure you go early as the seating is first-come-first-served basis. The ceremony starts at 4.30 PM every evening, but make sure you arrive by at least 3 PM so that you can secure a seat for yourself.

V Tip

Head to Gobindgarh Fort (3.6 kms from the resort; drive time: 10 mins) that has a number of exhibitions, live shows, food stalls and crafts market, all in one premise. Highly recommended!
