Located 15 km from Shimla, V Resorts Mashobra Greens is tucked deep inside the pine forest, and lined with apple orchards on one side and views of the snow-clad western Himalayan range on the other. The camp, comprising tents and cottages at an altitude of 7,100 ft, is a lovely paradox for the lovers of nature. Its scenic, placid setting brings peace to the mind and its expertise in adventure activities – all trainers are certified – gets the adrenaline going. It's quiet here (if you don't mind the chirping birds waking you up). There are accidental seasonal streams to surprise you, apple orchards to take a walk in, night treks, survival training modules if stuck in the woods, and rafting to test your stamina. You can also sample some delicious, undiscovered Himalayan dishes... and that's just a sample of what we have to offer!

Local Tour

Half km from the resort is the Sipur temple. A local legend, it is a must visit, but the walk from the camp to the temple is an experience in itself. Through a path strewn with pine cones, thick wood cover, accidental seasonal streams, chirping birds, and glimpses of the adjacent western, you reach the temple. A brook lies here, and so do the many centuries-old deodar trees, that the locals revere, as it belongs to the local deity. The temple is usually shut is is open only thrice a year, when the local diety, Seep, comes. Seep's a local avatar of Lord Shiva.

The camp is divided into different section with bamboo cottages, tents and mud cottages, with the tents being functional from March to late November only.

Dining Area

The resort has a large dining area which doubles up as a conference room.

Since the camp stands for everything adventure and natural, their food echoes similar sentiments. Apart from the normal Indian fare, lot of interesting dishes, indigenous to Himachal, are served – rajma, kadi, Chha Gosht etc, and the vegetables are all fresh. Expect recently-plucked apples for breakfast. The food is served in the dining hall or even outdoors.

From adventure sports instructors to camp hands, the resort generates employment for the locals. This keeps them closely engaged with the community around, and often they help with building toilets and school building in the area.
Jobs in the resort have empowered a number of women from the villages around. The women help with housekeeping or in the kitchen, are paid on hourly basis, and 'earn more than even the manager during season', says the resort owner. “Their lives have changed', he adds.
