V Resorts Koushalya Kanha

There are wildlife reserves, and then there are wildlife reserves. The Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh is one such special zone because of its striking sal and bamboo trees, sudden sparkling streams and enchanting thickets. It is believed that the legendary Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book was inspired by Kanha's untamed beauty. The tigers here are, of course, a big attraction in themselves. V Resorts Koushalya Kanha is located some one and a half km from the park's Khatiya Gate. Village-inspired mud exteriors, city comforts such as air-conditioning and TV, and plush interiors make it a getaway where you can relax or head out for high adventure. So, go for a tiger-spotting safari, visit the snake pit, have a picnic near the waterfall or set out on nature trails through the jungle.

Local Tour

The Gonds and the Baigas are among the original forest-dwellers of central India. Visit their homes to get a glimpse into their way of life, food, arts and crafts, and oral storytelling traditions. The nearer villages include Mochha and Chapri. On some days you can also check out the local market and scour for local handicrafts such as bamboo baskets.

Inspired by the local villages, the exterior of the resort is made of natural mud, and the interiors are plush and comfortable.

Pick between 17 cottages (with attached bath), equipped with Acs, double bed, a sofa to relax in, almirah, table and TV. All the cottages have a private sit-out or balcony. Each room has a spectacular view of the forest.

There are 4 of them, each consisting of one room, attached bath and all the other amenities, as in the cottages, including private sit-outs. The highlight is an 'open shower' with views of the sky.

Swimming Pool

Right in the center of the resort is a pool to dip into to freshen up after a safari.

The resort has employed staff from the local villages, who have been efficiently trained in hospitality. This way, employment is generated. The resort also works in conjunction with the forest department in their many endeavours to protect the environment, such as maintenance of streams and road. There is an effort towards water conservation by protecting natural springs around the resort and in the forest.

The Kanha National Park is spread across the area of 940 sq km in the Maikal chain of hills. It is in the Maikal range of Satpuras in Madhya Pradesh and is declared as one of the finest wildlife areas in the world.
