Besides tigers and deer, the sanctuary also houses more than 325 varieties of birds, making it a favorite among avian fans, who especially visit this park during the migratory season.

PS: The best time to visit Dudhwa National Park is between November and May. If you are visiting between December and February, remember to carry woolens with you.

Post your safari, head to the resort where you can unwind with a good book and cup of coffee. If you have the time, there are multiple trekking trails around the resort and small local villages if you want to visit. Most of the locals in this village belong to the Tharu tribes, who according to legends migrated from Rajasthan, post Mughal invasion.

They known for their colourful attire and chunky jewellery, besides being engaged in crafts like weaving dhurries, and baskets out of local grass. Engage a local guide to visit the Tharu villages.

V Tip

Around 78 kms from the resort, there is a unique frog temple in a small village called Oel in Lakhimpur Kheri. This tantric temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is built as if the frog is carrying the sanctum on its back. Don't miss the inner walls which are decorated with bright paintings done in vegetable colours.
