V Tip
While Alleppey can be visited at any time of the year, make sure you stop here during the month of August if possible. This is because during this time, it becomes the venue of the Nehru Trophy snake boat race- one of Kerala’s major spectacles. A choreographed race, each boat holds about 130 men: four roaring helmsman who steer the vessel, 25 singers to keep the rhythm, and at least 100 rowers. If you plan to attend this event, make sure you come early and book your spot because it gets crowded very fast and finding a spot can be a difficult affair.
