Explore Sikkim

The original organic state of India!

Sikkim is a travellers delight. With lands untouched and lakes unexplored, the place offers unique experiences to one and all.

Monasteries - Sikkim is home to a substantial Buddhist population and has more than 70 Buddhist monasteries. Many important monasteries are located in the western parts of the state, including Lheuntse, Dubde and Tashiding. V Resorts Bliss Village organises trips to each of these centres of religion and culture. Most of them can be reached after a 30 to 90 minutes drive from the resort. Some may involve treks as well (the resort will provide all required details and guides). Dubdi Monastery: Also known as the Yuksom Monastery, it is among Sikkim's oldest Nyingmapa Buddhist monasteries and was established in 1701 in the Geyzing, West Sikkim district. An important monastery, it played a foundational role in the setting up of the kingdom of Sikkim. Lhuntse Monastery: Established in mid 19th century, this Nyingmapa monastery is located on a hilltop above Mangalbarey Bazaar in West Sikkim. The historic visit by Lama Jigme Pawo has been marked by a footprint left on a rock below the Gonpa. A short trek from the road will take you here Tashiding Monastery: Located on a hilltop close to Tashiding town, this monastery was founded in the 17th century by Phunshok Rigzing and renovated in 1717 during the rule of Chakdor Namgyal. The popular Bhumchu festival is held here on the 15th day of the first Tibetan month.

Visit to the caves - The hills in these parts are dotted with caves, some of which are considered holy. Legend has it that Guru Rimpoche and Lhatsun Chenpo walked on these mountains and rested in these caves. Among the holiest of the caves is Lha-ri nying phu. A tough three-day trek takes you there and is recommended only for those with high fitness levels.

Lake Visit - Khecheopalri Lake is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists.Beautifully located in the middle of the hills, the lake has a calming influence even if you're not religiously inclined. Legend has it that if you whisper your wishes to the lake, they come true. The lake is an 80-90 minute drive from the resort.

Hot Springs - Phurchachu Hot Spring is a 20 minute drive from the resort, this seasonal hot spring (October to January) is known for its medicinal properties. Locals believe that its sulphur baths cure several ailments. Whatever the legend may be, it is certainly a great place to relax!
