Explore Shimla

Explore Shimla

The honeymoon destination of India

In Shimla, the main attractions are Jakhu ropeway, Tattapani, The Mall and Christ Church. And while we are sure Shimla can be covered in a day or two, we recommend you head to Narkanada, which is only two hours away from Shimla. Once you reach Narkanda, here is what all you can do, here.

Hatu Peak - The highest summit in Shimla, the Hatu Peak is incredibly stunning and peaceful. Surrounded by dense forests that are filled with maple, aspen and cedar trees, you can also stop by the Hatu Temple that is popular for its wooden architecture and religious significance.

Want to take it up a notch? You can also for the Hatu mountain trek, that is   relatively easy for first-timers as well. This trek can be completed within a single day and brings with itself, views of dark pine forests, majestic views of the Himalayan range, enchanting meadows and most importantly, the thrill of walking on snow, provided the time is right.

Skiing - Narkanda receives very heavy snowfall, during the period of December to March, which is actually the ideal time to go skiing in this region. There are many ski resorts in Narkanda, where you can learn to ski in a better manner. In fact, V Resorts Narkanda offers you a four day ski retreat, complete with sightseeing, skiing escapades and incredible food extravaganza.

The icing on the cake? The spectacular views, that seem to be right out of a picture book.

Stokes Apple Farm - If Himachal Pradesh is known as the Apple Capital of India, Narkanda is one of the prime areas for its cultivation. The Stokes Farm, located in Thanedar, 14kms from Narkanda is home to Stokes Farm, that was started in 1916 by Samuel ‘Satyanand’ Stokes, an American who came to India with the initial intention of working with leprosy patients. Today, this farm provides livelihood to several locals, especially women. You can also find apple wines and jams that are manufactured in the region and frankly, a better setting to enjoy these delicacies would be hard to find.

Tannu Jubbar Lake - Another major tourist attraction of Narkanda, is the Tannu Jubbar lake, which is a perfect place to unwind and relax. Away from the chaos of the city, we recommend you pack a picnic and enjoy the incredible vistas provided by the massive Himalayan range. Make sure you take along a camera, so that the images that you capture will be a source of envy for all your family and friends.
