Haridwar tours

Explore Haridwar

A spiritual journey of time, emotion and transcendence.

A popular spot for Hindu pilgrims from around the country, Haridwar is a popular getaway destination from North India. Popular for its temples and aarti that place on the river Ganga every evening (not to be missed under any circumstances), this place has a soothing and calming effect on travellers from around the world. Haridwar lies at an altitude of 314 metres above sea level, and can be visited at any time of the year. However, if you are planning to visit this city during an important religious festival like the Kumbh Mela, Kartik Purnima or Baisakhi, book your stay beforehand, as the city can get chaotic and crowded. Here are things that you can do in the city.

Mansa Devi - Dedicated to Mansa Devi, a goddess who fulfills the desires and wishes of her devotees, this is a major local attraction of Haridwar and one of the most important pilgrim site for Hindus. It is also known as the Bilwa Tirth, since the temple is situated on the peak of Bilwa Parvat.
The Mansa Devi temple is home to two idols of the goddess. It can be reached either through trekking or by taking the cable car. According to Hindu mythology, Mansa devi and Chanda devi are believed to stay close to one another, which is why these two temples are located very close to each other.

Har Ki Pauri - Another major local attraction in Haridwar is the Har Ki Pauri, which means Footsteps of the Lord. A sacred ghat located in the state, it is frequented by Hindu pilgrims from around the country. According to Hindu mythology, a few drops of amrit or the elixir of immortality fell on the Brahmakund Ghar of Har Ki Pari, making it a major place for religious devotees. Further, among all the devotees who have meditated on the Ghat, Bharthari, who was the brother of King Vikramaditya was the most famous and prominent. Make sure you do not miss this one.

Ganga arti at Haridwar - One of the most incredible and magical experience of Haridwar is a chance to witness the Ganga aarti at Haridwar. A must attend for both locals and tourists, the aarti takes place in the evening and goes on for quite some time. During the celebration, colorful flowers, beautifully decorated diyas and pleasant fragrance of incense make it a truly calming and memorable experience. Trust us, this is one experience that will stay with you for a very long time.
