Explore New Delhi

Ac city that always rises from its ashes!

A city of forts, flyovers and flowering trees that showcase different seasons, Delhi is a place that has constantly evolved to match steps with the global world. It is a city that is now home to fading aristocrats as much as it does to migrant workers, bureaucrats and activists - but in reality  it is a city that now belongs to everyone and to no one. The chaotic gullies of Chandni Chowk lead to the wide, shaded avenues of Lutyens New Delhi, which is also the political powerhouse of the country. It is therefore no surprise that an urbane village has now formed around a  sixteenth century tomb and a magnificent fort are found next to slums and offices. Crammed with layers of history and thousands of stories, you will find moments of pure beauty here; an elderly man threading temple marigolds, devotional Sufi songs or a young boy flying a kite from a rooftop.

There is so much experience here, something that you will not find anywhere else in the world. And here are just a few things.

Visit Heritage Monuments -  When it comes to monuments, Delhi is home to quite a few gems; it is right now boasts of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Lal Qila, Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar. With the above three, others like India Gate, Lodhi Gardens, Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Jantar Mantar, merit a visit from every traveller as well.

Visit the various pilgrim sites around the city - Delhi is home to people of various religions and denominations. And with temples, churches and mosques dotting the city’s skyline, each of these monument seem like a spiritual journey  of time, emotion and transcendence. We highly recommend you make your way through at least  a few of these places, when you visit the capital, including Akshardham, Cathedral Church of the Redemption, Nizamuddin Dargah, and the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

Head to Old Delhi - Delhi is a tale of two cities: there is Old Delhi, the Mughal capital established in 1638 by Shah Jahan and to the south, New Delhi which was constructed by the British between 1911 and 1938. Both are starkly different in terms of architecture and even culture. While Old Delhi is all  about narrow streets over which hang a lot of electrical wires, the latter is characterised by well planned streets and buildings. Both these sections of Delhi merit a visit, but do not miss Old Delhi, because it offers incredible pieces of architecture, a mouthwatering variety of food and till date remains a living, breathing piece of history.
