Whether you are looking for small hidden gems like Varkala or hill stations like Ooty and Kodaikanal, South India has something for every type of traveller.

Start your trip at Bangalore, which is the IT capital of the country. After a locally inspired breakfast, head to Bangalore Fort or Tipu Sultan’s Palace, which are some of the star attractions of the state. Also, no trip to Bangalore can be called complete without a visit to the Vidhana Soudha, the seat of the State Government, and the equally iconic Attara Kacheri. Highly recommended!

Coorg lies 100 km west of Mysore in the Western Ghats, its eastern fringes merging with the Mysore plateau. It is also the birthplace of the River Kaveri and home to the martial Kodavas, the region also boasts of rugged mountain terrain that are interspersed with cardamom valleys and fields of lush paddy, as well as coffee plantations. During your stay here, visit the coffee plantations, have a picnic near one of the waterfalls and finally simply unwind while enjoying the scenic vistas of one of the most spectacular destinations of South India.

Next on the list is Ooty, which is one of the most popular destinations in South India. With its mix of Hindu temples coupled with landscaped gardens, and charming Raj-era bungalows, this small town has a host of attractions for both laid back and active traveller. Whether you want to go around exploring the quiet haunts of the city or just unwind with a cup of coffee and book, this destination has you sorted on every front.

Home to a very rich wildlife and mist-laden trails, Kodaikanal is an idyllic destination for nature lovers. Take time to visit the Kodai Lake, popular for its boating and scenic environs. You can also choose to trek to the nearby waterfalls, or trot up woodsy trails on horseback. If you have more time, pick up scrumptious fruit preserves at Cinnabar or just call it day and unwind in the balcony of your room, while enjoying the panoramic views spread all around.

End your trip at Coimbatore, a small state in Tamil Nadu, which is perfect for those who want to unwind and escape the city chaos. Happy travelling!

Suggested Itinerary

Start your tour of South India early in the morning. Leave from Bangalore early in the morning to reach Coorg by late afternoon as it takes around five and a half hours by road.

Check in at the resort/hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Have your dinner at the resort. Cuisines include a lavish spread inspired by local cuisines.

Wake up to a hearty breakfast and gear up for a full day sightseeing of the evergreen hill station of Karnataka - Coorg. Renowned for its spices and coffee plantations, Kodagu or Coorg lines the southernmost tip of Karnataka.

To experience the real and unadulterated side of Coorg, head to the countryside. First thing you need to tick off from your itinerary is the coffee plantation tour. To take a tour and watch the entire process of how the seeds become your hot cuppa of coffee, you will have to book a stay at the numerous homestays in the coffee plantations (Not included in the package). The tour can be done on foot or in a jeep.

After soaking in the lush greenery and the strong fragrance of coffee, you may visit the stunning Abbi Falls. Located at a distance of 8 km from Madikeri district, the Falls make for a spectacular sight in the monsoons. With waters cascading from 21.3 metres, the falls make for an excellent vista.

Start for Ooty early in the morning. With the distance between the two places being 225 km, you will arrive at your destination by late afternoon. Check in your room and enjoy your welcome drinks. You may spend the rest of the day at leisure or just head out for a stroll around the resort.

The crisp air of the morning merits a walk outside. After soaking in the fresh breeze of Ooty, have your breakfast at the resort and gear up for a full day excursion of this hill station.

Renowned as the ‘Queen of the Hill Stations”, the lakes, viewpoints and gardens rightly justify this moniker. Start your exploration with the highest peak of the Nilgiri mountains - Doddabetta Peak. This peak is 2, 637 metres and is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. The base of the hill makes for a rewarding trek with stunning views of the entire Nilgiri range.

If you are still up for exploration and tours, head to Coonoor. Located just 20 km from Ooty, Coonoor is the major hub for tea estates and plantations. Take a tour through the lush green plantations and watch the process of tea making. You can always buy a batch and take it home, if you like what you try.

Wake up to a warm and sumptuous breakfast. Afterwards, prepare for your next destination - Kodaikanal. If you start early in the morning, you will arrive at your resort by late afternoon. After checking in, enjoy your welcome drinks and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Have your dinner at the resort and call it a night.

On most days, Kodaikanal offers a morning with fresh breeze and early spring vibes. If you are fortunate enough to wake up to one such beautiful morning, we recommend you head out for a walk. Have your breakfast at the resort. Get ready for a full day sightseeing of Kodaikanal.

Start your tour of this beautiful hill station with the Pillar Rocks, famous for offering sweeping views of mountains and waterfall. However, the USP of this place are the uniquely shaped rocks. Located at a distance of around 8 km from the Pillar Rocks is the famous Bear Shola Fall. An ideal picnic spot, the falls got its name from the bears that visited the falls to drink water.

Leave the evening for a stroll along Coaker’s Walk. Just 3 km from the Bear Shola Falls, the Walk offers breathtaking views of the valleys down below. The stroll takes not more than 5 minutes and is just the activity with which you should end your entire day’s exploration of Kodai.

Head back to the resort and have a dinner inspired by the local cuisine.

Wake up to a sumptuous breakfast. Prepare to check out from the resort and leave for Coimbatore.
