Welcome to our Explore Ladakh tour! On arrival at the airport in Leh, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Wrapped in the most beautiful topography of the mighty Himalayas, the desert city of Leh lies in the rocky paradise of Ladakh in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, long known for its eternal beauty. On arrival, check in to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day taking in the beauty of Ladakh and doze off gazing at its glorious, starry sky.
This morning, after breakfast, head for Shanti Stupa built by Japanese monks to promote world peace. This large hilltop stupa has brightly-coloured reliefs with a spired white hemisphere atop them. (Please note that smoking is prohibited here.) Visit the eye-catching Sankar Gompa monastery then. Lastly, visit Leh Palace, dilapidated yet interesting, which was built in the 17th century following the grand tradition of the Tibetan architecture. Reserve the rest of the day for leisure. Spend the night in Leh.
This morning, drive to Nubra Valley, popularly known as Dorma or 'the valley of flowers' via Khardungla Pass- world's one of the highest motorable road (5602 mts). On arrival, check in to your camp. Later in the afternoon, visit the Diskit Monastery and the giant statue of Maitreya Buddha, the tallest Buddha statue in Ladakh. Later, visit white sand dunes at Hunder, where you can enjoy the Double Humped Bactrian camel ride (ride on direct payment basis).
Go to sleep after a hearty meal at Nubra Valley.
After a wholesome breakfast, drive back to Leh. En route, visit Khardungla Pass, 39 kms away from Leh (Mountain Pass at 5578 m /18300 ft.). Khardung-La which means 'Pass of Lower Castle,' is a major caravan route from Leh to Kashgar in Central Asia. Spend the rest of the day exploring the region and go to sleep.
This morning, after breakfast, head for Alchi (at an elevation of 3500 m / 11500 feet), a small village in the Indus Valley, 67 kms west of Leh. Abandoned centuries ago, the gompa or monastery here is known as Chos-kor or a religious enclave, comprising of five temples. Enroute, see the majestic Sangam, the confluence of Zanskar and Indus. See the marvellous Magnetic Hill, a gravity hill located near Leh. The hill is known to have magnetic properties strong enough to pull cars uphill, forcing the aircrafts passing by the region to raise their altitude to escape the magnetic interference. After that, visit the Military Hall of Fame, a museum constructed by the Indian army, dedicated to the soldiers who fought in India-Pakistan wars. Get to know about the lives of the eminent defence personalities, have a look at their images and the weapons used during the Kargil War. After that, visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a beautiful gurudwara, constructed in the memory of Guru Nanak, about 25 miles away from Lehand Spituk Monastery famous for its wide and varied collections of ancient masks, icons, antique arms and numerous Thangkas. You have the rest of the day for leisure. Have a delicious dinner at Leh and go to sleep.
This morning, after breakfast, proceed to Pangong Tso, a lake which is 134 km long and extends from India to Tibet. 60% of the length of the lake lies in China. During winters, the lake freezes completely, despite having saline water. En route, visit Shey Palace, the 15th century summer palace and monastery of Leh's Royal family; the 800-year-old gompa at Thiksey built on a hilltop and modelled on the famous Potala Palace in Lhasa. Before reaching Pangong Lake, you will also pass through Changla, a high mountain pass and the world's third highest motorable road. It is on the route to Pangong Lake from Leh. The name literally means "Pass towards the South" or "Pass in the South", with ‘chang’ meaning ‘south’ and ‘la’ meaning ‘pass’. Spend the rest of the day exploring the area on your own. Spend the night at Pangong after a hearty dinner.
This morning, after breakfast, drive around the Pangong Lake and don't forget to click pictures; it’s a gorgeous location! Head back to Leh. En route, visit Hemis Monastery hidden in a gorge, the largest and wealthiest gompa in Ladakh. Visit Stok Palace famous for its beautiful gardens and beautiful views of the sunrise and the sunset it offers. At present, the palace is open to visits and presents a collection of royal attires, crowns and other royal artefacts. The rest of the day is for leisure. Spend the night in Leh.
Today, bid farewell to your Explore Ladakh tour, as you are transferred to the airport in Leh for your further journey.
