While Kerala itself is called God’s Own Country, its small hill stations like Alleppey, Kovalam, Munnar and Thekkady have their own nicknames and descriptions. For instance Alleppey, with its vast network of canals and backwaters has earned itself the “Venice of East” tag. You won’t find gondolas here, but if you are keen on making the best of your trip to Kerala, a stay in a houseboat always does the trick.

Of course, if you don’t have the time to spend in a houseboat, a quiet picnic by the backwaters is also an experience in itself. Add to this, a ride through the mist-covered tea plantations and a wildlife safari in Periyar National Park and your trip to Kerala is complete.

Our 8N/9D extensive package for Kerala will take you through some of the most popular tourist attractions and also give you enough time to sit back and relax at the resort.

Start your exploration of God’s own country with a drive from Kochi to Munnar. We recommend that you leave from Kochi early in the morning so as to reach the resort by afternoon. The distance between Kochi and Munnar is approximately 137 kms, a 4 hour drive. Once you reach, be greeted by a resort representative and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink. Spend the rest of the day catching up on some rest.

Go for an evening stroll in the evening, exploring the locales or indulge in some recreational activities at the resort. Have your dinner at the resort and call it a day.

Head back to the resort after an exploratory day and indulge in a traditional dinner.

Wake up to a scrumptious breakfast at the resort. The crisp morning air calls for a yoga or meditation session. Take your call and do what you feel like the most. This day is for exploring the lush green and vast tea gardens of Munnar, an attraction it is most popular for.

While there are many private tea factories all around Munnar, the one that is open to public is the Lockhart Tea Factory. Take a cab or bus to the tea estate, located approximately 15 km from Munnar. A guided tour of this 160-year-old tea factory will help you understand the nuances of the entire process of tea making.

Perched amidst the rolling hills of Munnar, this quaint and archaic Roman Catholic church has seen the transition of Munnar from just a tea plantation estate to a major tourist destination. Spend some time in the solitude of the beautiful church.

Head back to the resort in the evening. Have your dinner inspired by the local cuisine of the state.

Have your breakfast at the resort while you take in the greenery all around you.

Gear up for today by preparing yourself for trekking to high elevation points like Echo Point and Top Station. The first one is located at a distance of 15 kms from Munnar. Take in the spectacular views of lush greenery, mist covered hills and a waterfall from this point as after this you can head to the next trekking point which is Top Station.

Top station is at an elevation of 1700 m from sea level making it the highest trek point in Munnar and you can go up to 32 kms for trekking. The trek can be exhausting but the view at the top is worth it. The famous Neelakurinji flowers are found in abundance at the top station viewpoint.

After an exhausting day, you can enjoy a dinner made from local spices at the resort.

Wake up at your own leisure and post breakfast prepare for your next destination, Thekkady, located at a distance of 90 km from Munnar. Check in your room and enjoy your welcome drinks. Unwind at the resort with your favourite book or try some activities, available at the resort. Nature walks or a visit to the windmills closeby can be items on yourself planned itinerary for the day.

In the evening, you can opt for a live bonfire at the resort or sit in the lawns and enjoy your evening tea. Have dinner at the resort and call it a night early.

Have your breakfast at the resort. Today, you will head to Periyar National Park which is located at a distance of just 2.9 kms from the resort. You can start the day by going for boating at the Periyar Lake which is located right in the middle of Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.

The hiking trails meander through the entire forest. Also, there are options for bamboo rafting at the Periyar Lake. Periyar National Park is famous for elephants, but you can also spot sambar, gaur, mouse deer, and Indian Wild dog among other animals.

The Periyar Tiger Reserve is known for its diverse flora as well which includes semi-evergreen, tropical evergreen and deciduous forest. Explore the thick forest and choose a spot for camping or you can opt for bird watching as there are 246 species of birds in the reserve.

Wake up to have your morning tea on the sundeck, surrounded by greenery of the backwaters. After you have had your breakfast, you can start for your next destination, Kovalam. Known for its backwaters and beaches, Kovalam is located at a distance of 211 km, a five and a half hour drive from Alleppey. Relish on your refreshing welcome drinks after you have checked in at the resort.

In the evening, head out for a stroll and soak in the beauty of this picturesque place. If you feel like lounging around the resort instead, you can stay back and enjoy recreational activities.

Once you have had your breakfast, you can head out to explore the city of lighthouse beaches. The famous Kovalam beach is a must-visit beach where you can bask in the beauty of the unique landscape. However, if you want to have a panoramic view of the entire city, the Lighthouse beach should be at the top of your itinerary for the day. Lip smacking food is available at the various restaurants around the beach. Be sure to catch a bite of the fried fish served in any of the umbrella shacks to get an authentic flavor of Kovalam.

After a day full of sampling local dishes and exploring lighthouses, head back to the resort and enjoy a sumptuous dinner.

Wake up to enjoy the views that surround you while you have your breakfast. After this, you will leave for Alleppey which is at a distance of 169 km from Kovalam. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with warm hospitality and then you can check in your room. When you have rested well, you will leave for exploring the backwaters of Kerala which are not only beautiful but extremely tranquil places to be at.

You can even witness the boating contest that takes place yearly here. Alleppey is also famous for its sunsets, so if you do have time, just stop at the Pozhiyoram beach and take in the splendour of the setting sun.

Return to your resort after an eventful day and have a lavish dinner made from the regional spices of Kerala.

Wake up to a healthy breakfast on your last morning of the trip. Pack your bags with all your belongings along with the trip’s precious memories and sign off back to Kochi in your designated vehicle.
