Start from the Indian Institude of Advanced Studies. Built in the colonial architectural style, this was once the summer retreat palace of president of India. Today, a walk through the institute will enlighten you on the topic of Modern Indian history.
However, if your heart lies in the matter of history and you want to have a glimpse in the colonial era, the Shimla State Museum should be on your itinerary for the day. Built in the colonial architecture style, the lush green pastures surrounding the museum make it a picturesque building. Moreover, the rare collection of artefacts, paintings and other such things are bound to educate you about our history and past.
In the evening, head to the Mall Road which is rightly considered a haven for all the shopaholics. From woollen clothes to rare handicrafts, there are plenty of things you can forage for. The addition of various cafes and stalls make it a must-visit place for foodies as well. Take a walk through the road in the evening or just sit on the benches and soak in the views of the hills.
Head back to the resort and have a sumptuous dinner.

In the morning, after breakfast, proceed for Dharamsala. Check in to the resort and spend the rest of the day unwinding from the travel fatigue.
In the morning after breakfast, go on a sightseeing trip around Dharamsala. Start your tour of this city with the Kangra Fort. A dilapidated yet beautiful fort, this one is ideal for spending a couple of hours.
Dharamshala also has a cricket stadium which is renowned for being built on the highest ground. You can visit this stadium as well.
Later in the day, visit Mcleodganj. A treat for nature enthusiasts, this is famous for the Dalai Lama Temple, a beautiful church, its lakes and waterfalls. The Bhagsunaag waterfall is also the starting point of the Triund trek.
