Travel blogs are so run of the mill and many of them seem all fudged up together Everyone is visiting ‘popular’ holiday destinations mindlessly, doing the same boring activities, with almost the same experiences that the others had. And yet everyone feels that their experience was unique… Yawn…….
Okay so your personal holiday was your personal style and experience. For the sake of conversation, let’s just say that actually trying a new place that is undiscovered and still brimming over with sounds and sights of nature and the green expanse keeps you wondering why you didn’t go there before.
The serenity you see in pictures of Nainital is but a mirage. It is crowded, teaming with honeymooners, large families on holiday and tourists. Mass tourism – not a fanThe main attraction is the Naini Lake – that is badly maintained and looks so grotesquely dirty that it would be a challenge to put your hand in to it. Don’t you get enough of that in the cacophonous city you come from
While the trees stand tall – they have been like that for years – the noise of this overemphasized location, drowns out all the sounds of nature. The city does that too so why go on vacation The prices skyrocket in season and the hotels are nothing to write home about.
In direct contrast is Sattal – an offbeat spot and the V Resorts Sattal resort being just that – offbeat The place is welcoming. Nature’s abundant orchestra in all its finery can be distinctly heard and seen. The waters of the seven lakes are clear allowing you to get a peek of the glorious underwater world without even trying too hard. It’s inviting
For the more adventurous, snorkeling is highly recommended. Swim with the underwater life, touch the lake bed and the rocks and come out feeling like you have conquered the world In the mood for lazing – sit down by the lakes and let the fishing rod do its work – the abundance of fish allows for successful angling.
GET LOST – by the way is the V Resorts tagline and you can do just that by taking up the treks offered or visiting the Subash Dhara – the freshwater cascading fall. I don’t mean you will get lost, I mean you will GET LOST in the awesomeness of nature.
When you are done being adventurous for the day, you can sit back and relax – indulge in some indoor activities or just roam the well-maintained and manicured property. What’s more, they love your furry friends as much as you – your pets are very welcome at this resort. Watch your pet having a renewed burst of energy – pets love vacations too
Maybe it’s just me, but I would prefer if I was able to enjoy nature in all its regality rather than be surrounded by the same crowds I sought to run away from. If I only wanted to shop and eat, I can much easily do that where I live – what’s the point if that’s all I can do in the holiday location. This is so typically Nainital and so not my scene.
