Say Yes To A Destination Wedding! In Wai, There Are Rivers And Hills, Rain Dances And Picnic Lunches

Romita Saluja

February 19, 2018

Destination: Wai

It’s your wedding day. You wake up to the views of the rocky Sayhadri hills in the distance and pick up your morning tea (or coffee) cup and step out of your cottage to soak some sun in your private sit-out area. It's just a matter of few hours when you will slip into your wedding dress, that coveted dreamy dress you always got goosebumps to think about, and walk the altar to say your vows.

As you sit on the breakfast table sipping your drink amid the lush green surroundings of the garden, you look around to check if your friends and family members in the nearby cottages are up. You can’t find anyone. Where would everyone be, you wonder. Ah, they mentioned something about morning trek (the hills are within the property, after all!) during the last night’s rain dance bachelorette, you remember. The irresistible smell emanating from the breakfast table makes you turn back to the plate before you and put some delectable pieces of food into your mouth.

Meanwhile, you can’t help flipping through the pictures in your phone gallery and smile at the memories collected in the last few days. Putting some on Instagram won’t be a bad idea either. First, there are some crazy ones from the last night’s rain dance bachelorette party near the resort restaurant. How happiness is spilling over all the pictures!

Then the last evening’s boating in the nearby Krishna River. “The best sangeet ever,” you think. “How offbeat! To an outsider, it would be just a sight of numerous boats floating in the river carrying some people singing wedding songs…Is this a dream?”
