IRCTC has taken another step in sync with the government’s digital India plan by introducing its own payment aggregator system, IRCTC iPAY. Passengers from now on can can make payments directly to IRCTC when booking for particular journey, hence eliminating the role of third-party platforms. IRCTC iPAY offers customers payment options like credit card, debit card, UPI Unified Payment Interface, and International card while promising that the IRCTC prepaid card cum wallet and auto debit options will also be soon available.

The e-ticketing arm of Indian Railways has promised that iPAY will prove to be a reliable, passenger friendly, easy to use and a faster mode to make payments. Full control over IRCTC iPAY will lead to IRCTC having direct relationships with acquiring banks, card networks, and other partners which will ultimately lead to reducing payment failures. Moreover, in case if there is an error in the online transaction then the matter will now be resolved quickly, as IRCTC will no more need to rely on an intermediate source to look for a resolution.
