There are plenty of people who travel between Mumbai and Pune on a daily basis, and only they would understand the pain associated to getting stuck in a bad traffic. But it seems, there will soon be an end to that.
What’s the buzz?
Commuters travelling from Mumbai to Pune will soon be able to use a helicopter service to cover the distance.
According to a media report, Fly BLADE Inc., which is one of the largest helicopter service provider in the US, is all set to launch its India operations in Mumbai from March 2019.
The most interesting part about this helicopter service will be that daily commuters will be able to avail it just the way they use the regular app-based cab services in India.
The media report reveals that these helicopter flights will depart from Juhu and Mahalaxmi in Mumbai, and will have its arrivals at the heliports of Pune and Shirdi.
What should you know?
BLADE India, which will operate in the form of a joint venture with venture capital firm Hunch Ventures, is looking to focus not just in providing the helicopter services to daily commuters, but also plans to expand its wings in the times to come and offer services to the popular weekend getaway destinations from Mumbai, thus making travel easier for the city’s residents.
There are two routes that are pre-decided for the launch of this helicopter service in India. One flight route is from Mumbai to Pune, which will apparently be covered in a duration of 40 minutes, and the other will be from Juhu to Mahalaxmi, wherein the flying time will be of merely five minutes, but the effective time will be 20 minutes due to several air traffic restrictions.
What we think?
We are heading towards an age wherein our dream of flying to get rid of traffic will be manifested in reality. However, will it create yet another traffic monster in the air? We have to wait and watch to get the answers.
