Places to visit in Sattal
While Sattal is a destination in itself, it encompasses several unique mini-destinations and places of interest that will light up your stay there. Without wasting much time, here’s a list of places to visit in Sattal
The Seven Lakes
this one goes without saying, right? How do you visit Sattal without visiting the Sattal lake that makes it? Go down to the lakes, sit by and appreciate the nature or, for a more active occupation, go boating or kayaking on the waters.
While Subhash Dhara is more known for the trek that leads up to it, it is a destination in its own right. One of the best places to visit in Sattal, Subhash Dhara is a freshwater spring whose waters emanate from an unknown source below the ground. Located a few kilometers to the west of the main hamlet, this is a unique place where you can spend an afternoon relaxing and delving into the waters.
Home to a mind-boggling 5000 varieties of butterflies, it is only natural that Sattal has a butterfly museum to preserve the full length and breadth of the specimens. The museum currently houses over 3000 specimens of butterflies and about a 1000 of other insect varieties, out of 11000 that are found here.

One of the oldest such establishments in the country, the Sattal Mission Estate and Methodist Ashram, better known simply as ‘Sattal Christian Ashram’, was established in early 20th Century by a Christian evangelist and missionary on an erstwhile tea plantation, to propogate Christian religion. Nearby is a chapel which is a part of the mission. The tea planatation on which it was established doesn’t exist now, but the ashram has become a popular place of interest here.
