Indian Railways has been making big changes and taking innovative steps to ensure that the passengers get the convenience they deserve. In one such endeavour, they have now started looking into brand and product promotions. And the first such collaboration is happening with the Tourism Department of Assam. They are now coming together to promote their recent campaign ‘ Awesome Assam’.
What’s the Buzz?
Using the trains to promote brands and products is an idea offered to all the states across the country and Assam after learning about this, decided to use three Northeast Frontier Railway Trains to promote its brand entity ‘Awesome Assam’. According to the statement given by NFA, 12552 / 12551 Kamakhya – Yasvantpur – Kamakhya AC Express is the first train to be fully branded with the State Government Publicity Campaign. The train was flagged off by Mr Chandan Brahma, Minister of Assam Tourism and Mr Jayanta M. Baruah, Chairperson, Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. Other senior officials of Assam Govt. and NFR members were also present during the event.
What should you know?
The Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal came up with this new move of using vinyl wrappings on trains in order to use the train exteriors as a medium of advertisement. The procedure was simplified recently by bringing the branding tariffs on per train basis. The Kamakhya Express which is the first train to be fully branded runs 3025 kms to Banglore, passing through many big and small towns on its way. Hence, it is being expected that the new move will prove helpful in giving a boost to Assam tourism. Moreover, apart from the Kamakhya Express that will cover the routes of the South, the Awesome Assam campaign will use trains running along the parts of West India and North India as well to ensure maximum promotion.
What we think?
We think that this new partnership between the Indian Railways and the tourism department of Assam will prove fruitful and encourage people to travel to the exotic state of Assam. This will further encourage other state toursim departments to come together with Indian Railways and promote their unique attractions.
